Loss of the Steamship Atlantic, White Star Line, March 30, 1873- Story and passenger list. When the Atlantic was wrecked off the coast of Nova Scotia in March of 1873, she became the worst marine disaster for Canada of the nineteenth century, with 546 out of 975 lives lost. RMS Atlantic was a transatlantic ocean liner of the White Star Line that operated between Liverpool, England, and New York City.

Passengers of the John McKenzie- The JOHN McKENZIE sailed from the Clyde (Scotland) May 18, 1857 and arrived at Quebec shortly before June 26, 1857. What makes this ship notable is that many of the passengers were then loaded onto the steamship Montreal which was to take them from Quebec City to Montreal. What followed was one of the worst marine disasters in Canadian history.

The Jonestown and Peoples Temple Tragedy of 1978- Lists of those who died in Jonestown and Georgetown, 18 November 1978; those who survived in Jonestown and Georgetown; those who have died since 18 November 1978; and those who died in Jonestown before 18 November 1978.
On November 18, 1978 in Guyana a U.S. Congressman was assassinated, along with four other individuals, at a jungle airstrip; these tragic killings were followed by the mass suicides/murders of 900 men, women, and children, all members of the Peoples Temple, a religious group based in California which moved to Guyana in the late 1970s.

Victims of the Gander Newfoundland Plane Crash - December 12, 1985- On Thursday, December 12, 1985, the chartered DC-8 plane carrying 248 members of the 101st Airborne Division of Fort Campbell, Kentucky and 8 crew members returning home for Christmas from peace keeping duties in the Middle East, crashed during takeoff in Gander, Newfoundland.

Victims of the Pan Am 103 Crash, 21 December 1988- In the evening of December 21st. 1988 flight Pan Am 103 exploded and pieces of the plane fell onto the Scottish town of Lockerbie, killing 259 people on the plane and 11 people on the ground.
